The Best Of: November

1. Projects
I guess you've all heard about what's happening in the Philippines right now. I don't know much about the Philipinnes in general, just the things I learned in school. But then of course I've heard of all the terrible things that are going on right now. As I am just a teenager, there's not much I can do. But I've found a website that's holding a petition to give to the gouvernment. You don't need to give them any money, just your mail adress and you can support their project. So you have no excuse! It would be amazing if you could all head over and sign the petition and show it to your friends and family. It's one way of helping if your not old enough to spend a lot of money and it still makes a diffrence. I like their website in general, there are also a lot of other petitions and you can even create your own! So please take a few minutes to check it out!

2. Food
Lately I've been a bit obsessed with Turtles. It's something that we don't have in Europe and I recently discovered them and they're just so good! If you haven't tried them yet or don't know them you definitely should, especially if you like caramel, chocolate and nuts!

3. Beauty
As it gets colder, my skin and lips get really dry. That's why I always carry a lipbal around. I've been loving the eos lipbalm in "Peppermint" (the green one) and the Baby Lips in "Mint" (the blue one). (As you can see I really like Peppermint). I don't feel comfortable wearing lipstick to school, that's why I've been using the Clinique Chubby Stick in 07 "Super Strawberry" so I could still have a bit of colour on my lips.

4. Movies
What better is there at this time of the year than cuddling with a warm blanket, maybe some hot chocolate or tea and watch a movie? Okay, you could also take a book instead of a movie but you got the idea. In Germany a new movie came out called "Fack ju Gohte" and I probably shouldn't say this but I couldn't wait and watched it online (#sorrynotsorry). I'll buy the DVD when I get back to make it up! Anyways, I think it's my new favourite movie (besides Catching Fire of course)! It's so much fun to watch. I was a bit afraid at first, that they would overdo it a bit, but it's perfect! So if you can understand german, you should definitely watch it. If not, you should still watch it, at least the trailer:

5. Music
I've been listening to a lot of Cro's music (if you don't know him, he's a german musician, his music is a mixture of rap and pop; he calls it raop).
My favourite songs are

Whatever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGrfFzagzHs
Einmal um die Welt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2pySXCmwpc
Du: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV4fONSDFUQ
Ein Teil: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV4fONSDFUQ

which are also his most popular songs I think.
And then there are also a few random songs which I really like:

Mika - Elle Me Dit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiHWwKC8WjU
Scouting for Girls - She's So Lovely: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ABNEjPxWEg
Hudson Taylor - Care (Acoustic): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpnzEicVd2Y
My Kind of Karma - Stolen Boat: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sweet-wild-life/id672936022

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

I'm quite a big fan of the Hunger Games Series. I read all the books and loved them. All the more I was really excited for Catching Fire to be released. I went to the 8PM show on thursday with a friend. We went about one hour early because everyone told us to do so. When we arrived there were already people queuing! We still got pretty good seats right in the middle. By the start of the movie, the cinema was full.
And what should I say? It was perfect! I loved every minute of it. There was no moment in which I wasn't full of excitement.
They did a really good job, there wasn't anything that one could have made better! Ok, when i think about it, I was a bit disappointed in how the front of the burnt mockingjay dress looked but that's all.
I love how Effie developed and the actrice who plays Mags is perfect for the part.

But it's not only her, I think that they found just the right actors for all the tributes.
It was just an amazing movie.
And now we have to wait a whole year until the next one comes out!

Do you like the Hunger Games? Did you see the movies? Who's your favourite character? (I actually can't decide which one I like best).

Have fun!

Homemade Soap

Last Sunday I made my own soap for the first time! It's a hobby of my canadian "mum", every weekend she tries out new designs, colours and sents. There are so many options that I had a hard time choosing mine. Finally I decided to use an old pipe to fill with the soap liquid so my soap would get a round shape. For the sent I used Chai Tea (Cybilla) since I love Chai Tea.

I also put a little bit of Chai Tea Leaves in the soap liquid. Just take some tea bags of your favourit tea, cut them open and mix the leaves into the soap liquid. It looks really pretty and two bags (which is how much I used) are totally enough.
While pouring the liqiuid into the pipe I dusted a bit of gold powder on top of everything.

I'm not going to give you a whole tutorial on how to make soap since I'm a beginner and I just followed the instructions my canadian mum gave me who also helped me with every step. If you're a beginner get some help since you have to use lye. My canadian mum took a class before she did it at home.

Anyways, it was a lot of fun to make soap but also a bit stressful somtimes. I'm really happy how mine turned out! Also, it is the perfect DIY Christmas gift! I will give some to my family and friends for sure since it is quite a lot of soap.

Have fun!

Selfmade Power Balls

Last weekend I tried out a new receipe for making these delicious power balls (as I like to call them). They have lots of protein in them and are perfect if you feel a little tired during the day and need some new energy. I like to take them to school or dance class with me as a quick snack. They are really easy to make and it took me only about 15 minutes to get them done!

Here's what you will need:
- 1 cup (dry) oatmeal
- 2/3 coconut flakes (you can also use any other kind of nut flakes)
- 1/2 cup almond butter (other "nut butters" like peanut butter work too)
- 1/2 cup flaxseed
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or cacao nibs (optional, but who can say no to chocolate?)
- 1/3 honey (if you're canadian you can use maple syrup)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Take a medium bowl and throw all your ingredients in there.

Mix everything together and put it in the fridge for half an hour.

Take a teaspoon and put some of the mixture on a little plate and form a little ball. This can sometimes be a bit difficult. If the mixture is too dry, put some more honey and almond butter in it and just keep practicing. If you like coconut as much as i do, you can cover the balls with coconut flakes afterwards.

Then you can just put the balls in any kind of airtight container and keep them in your refrigerator, ready to eat.

I hope this was helpful, have fun!
